I’m a third year medical student at the University of Birmingham and a prospective intern for HDR UK with the MRC branch. As a medical student, much of my education has been centred around clinical practice rather than health data science and research. Thus, a lot of my data science experience has been through personal projects and courses I have undertaken outside of my studies.

As part of this internship, I hope to build upon my existing skill set and truly understand the essence of data management and health data research. In a practical sense, this will not only help my future clinical practice but give me a solid foundation in the field of health research and how it can be utilised to inform/improve public health policy. I am excited to embark upon this journey and can’t wait to see where this internship takes me!
